About Your Optical Jedi

IMG_4086.JPG

I’ve been working in and around the Optical Industry since 1990.  Originally from Northern California, I now reside in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California.  I’m currently the Senior Optician and Lab/Frame Manager at Focal Point Optometry in Fullerton, California.I have a wide ranging variety of interests outside of the optical industry, including, but not limited to; Star Wars, Sea Kayaking, Hiking, Visiting National Parks, History, anything and everything written by Neal Stephenson, Disneyland, Harry Potter (including Wizarding World), LiningUp for Star Wars films at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX, Girl Scouts (with my daughter and wife), being kilted, and myriad other things.  Seriously, ask me anything.

Also, I’m a rabid hockey fan (as most hockey fans are).  I grew up as a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and since moving to Los Angeles have fully adopted the LA Kings as my home team. My family and I attend at least a dozen games each year at the Staples Center.  In addition, my daughter has been playing hockey for several years and is currently active in youth women’s hockey.

I’m also a Type3c Diabetic. I had a severe illness in 2003 which led the removal of most of my pancreas, leaving me insulin-dependent diabetic.  I am a Dexcom Warrior and have even been featured in a Nationally televised commercial for Dexcom.  I’m also a vocal advocate for diabetes awareness and education.

In 2021, I have been nominated as a finalist for the Transitions Innovation Awards, as a Brand Ambassador.

P.S.–If you want to hear more about the crazy fun for charity we have Lining Up for Star Wars films at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX, please ask!  I’m super proud of the charitable work we’ve done here, raising close to $125,000 since 1999 for Starlight Children’s Foundation

My years in the optical industry have given me a great depth of experience and knowledge about the various lens and frame technologies available.  But I do not claim to be the ultimate master on all things for all patients.  I hope to be a guide to helping you find the right questions to ask.  Those most intimately aware of your specific prescription and lifestyle requirements will help to finalize the exact eyewear solutions best suited to your needs.
